Cape Woods Campgrounds and Cabins

We stumbled upon Cape Woods 11 years ago when our kids were elementary age. We loved is to much we have been coming back literally for 11 years every memorial day weekend with 3 other families and our kids are now in college and high school and never want to miss the camping trip! In total we bring 16 people with us (8 adults and 8 kids) most years. ||This was the first year I saw a few small things that made me wonder if the owners have changed hands? || First the positive.... we have been at almost every tent site and have loved each one. Some have a lot of shade while others more sun but you have a choice which is great. The turtles are great entertainment for all ages! Normally we rent houses during the off seasons when we visit Hatteras Island. I was really hesitant to come during prime season and bring the camper but am really glad we did. The weather was great and it really wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. This campground is really nice because it's smaller than the others so it's not as crowded or loud. The pool hardly ever had people and the staff was friendly. The wifi could've been better and they only had one washer that worked. We didn't use the bathhouses so we don't know if they were good or bad. All in all it was completely worth it and we would definitely stay here again.

The owners were absolutely amazing. They were very accommodating for our group of 5 and using their tent sites. We also showed up after the front desk employee left for the day and it wasn't a problem them. The bathrooms and showers were very clean as well as the entire campsite itself. A great spot to camp!

What can I say? I've been going down to Cape Hatteras since the late 70s. Of course, it is paradise in earth. Camped when I was a kid but the next 30 years rented houses. Well, I tell you what, found this little gem about 5 years ago when we decided to take a surprise and unplanned vacation. Shot down to Hatteras on a whim and before we left we called the Cape Woods Campground to see if they had any sites available. They did and that began a new tradition for my family. Rates are great! Stay 6 days get the 7th free. For the cost of two nights at a mid range hotel you could stay for week here. Water and electric at sites but they do have primitives if you prefer. Gem of a campground with nice size sites ... lots of shade and a great pool. Clean bathrooms and plenty of room to walk your dog. Camped in site #112 for 2 nights and very peaceful and quiet back here. Lots of seasonal campers but not many of them here now so nice & quiet. Great owner to work with, too! Thanks Laurie & Kevin!
