Candlewood Suites St. Joseph/Benton Harbor by IHG

Rough check in experience. Went up to room and the hotel was filthy and in construction. That said when we arrived at our room, there was smudges of dirt and footprints on our door. When we got into room 302 I can’t even begin to describe the depth of cigarette smoke smell. Astonishing for a hotel that claims to be smoke free. After about five unbearable seconds in the room, we went back downstairs to simply ask for a different room. The front desk employee proceeded to tell us that the hotel was booked. He then mentioned another room that would have two queens instead of a king like we requested. We said that’s fine and then he left to go check the room out. He came back very soon and said he forgot the room number he was going to inspect. He left again and came back and said he was unabl

Clean room and comfortable beds. Loved having a full size refrigerator. Staff was mostly kind of rude with the exception of 1 or 2 people. It is under construction so one of the elevators is down and the only working one smells like cigarettes. There is no breakfast at this location or pool, but they do have washers and dryers. Overall a good place to stay

I love booking with Candlewood. I tend to call the front desk for assistance with my reservation, cause I have two small dogs with me. Staff is always friendly and remember my name. I like having a refrigerator for the weekend to put leftovers in and also I have special meals for my dogs that have to be refrigerated. Refrigerator is always nice and cold. Kitchen is nice and clean. Dishes are clean that is clean. Everything is really nice so comfortable. I don’t even bother to check with any other hotels. Candlewood is always been my primary place to go when I go visit my kids in Saint Joseph

We needed a place to stay at the last minute and stopped here to see if they had a room. We had a king room which was quite large with a nice little kitchen. Bathroom was quite spacious but had a small vanity. The hair dryer was missing from the room so they had to bring one up. We had never stayed at a Candlewood Suites so we didn't know they don't serve breakfast but that was ok. They did have a few items you could purchase. There is a Cracker Barrel next door so you can go there for breakfast.

They were angels where we needed them! Just awesome and so deserving of 5 stars (I'd give a hundred if I could).
