Cambridge Inn Motel

We booked this hotel on one of the travel sites late at night on our drive through the area. The site we used didn't have too many reviews, but for the price we thought we would take our chances, as we have had many good experiences in the past staying at local hotels when traveling. The check-in experience was okay although it did take a little longer than usual. When we got to our room, we were a little shocked. The condition of the room was very subpar. The floor looked semi-clean, the pillowcases were so sweat stained you wondered if they were even clean. The mattress sagged in the middle and the pillows were flat. Okay, if I were stranded and there was the choice of staying here or in a bush, that would be the only way I would stay at this motel. We pulled up to an apparently abandoned motel, with a crowded office with an open sign. After ringing the bell a couple of times we could hear the thumps of an approaching person. The person was a dour older lady who ran our id through a machine, ran the card twice and told us to go across the street to our room. Across the street? Yes, there was a slightly better looking cluster of single level rooms surrounded by a lot of greenery across the street. As a positive, there were no visible bugs, we didn't wake up itching, and the bed was fairly comfortable, if not well covered with meager pillows (we had our own) . I stay at a lot of budget motels and this one is older like most, but the management team (man & wife) went out of their way to make my stay as best as possible. When the TV lacked a remote they brought one right over. I found the room clean. It was in February so it was a little chilly and the heater worked just fine. Can't tell what the AC was like as I didn't try it. The room had a decent microwave and mini-frig. Free WiFi worked just fine.||||Bottom line - this is an older budget motel. But for the price it served me well.

Made a reservation for overnight stay visiting a relative. She said it wasn't to bad and cheap. I read reviews on all motels in that proximity and they were 50 - 50 good and bad. I couldn't afford to pay over $100.00. Checked in, the receptionist said there were crickets. I thought yeah, it's summer, we have them now at home, OUTSIDE. Walking to the room I saw them on the ground and by the walkway. We went in, saw a couple dead ones and one in the bathtub. I thought surely they had pest control as those crickets were dead. I checked for bed bugs, none thank God, locked up and gone for several hours visiting. Came back and kept seeing and killing crickets all over! My experience at Cambridge inn motel, during my one night stay, was simple. I arrived near 7am on a weekend and was surprised there was vacancy as well as no waiting time to check in and best price in town. I can honestly say this motel visit was pleasant, quiet, peaceful and the room was decent and roomy. I didn't experience any disturbances whatsoever. Thank you.
