Bushwhack Lodge

We stayed for two separate nights while doing the Alpine loop with our kids. The one-bedroom "apartment" had a very awkward bathroom arrangement, with the bathroom being an en-suite to the bedroom, while there was also a queen bed in the main room. This meant that we had to sneak into the bedroom after our kids went to sleep to use the bathroom. Other reviews have mentioned updates to the rooms, but ours didn't show any evidence of this. It was entirely wood paneled to the point of feeling oppressive, and there were cobwebs on the walls. The kitchen wasn't properly equipped--there was soap but no sponge, no pots, etc. The walls were very thin; you could hear people coughing in the next room over and loud footsteps on the second floor. Where to start... Although our 1 bedroom was mostly clean there was a dirty fork in the sink, coffee grounds in the coffee maker, and the window sill looked like it hadn't been wiped off in weeks. We had a kitchenette but no dishes, coffee cups, sharp knives, or toaster oven. One plus is that there were coffee filters but no coffee. ||After talking with a local, I checked out some other cabins. They were MUCH nicer, with full kitchens and immaculately clean for the same price. We will come back to Lake City next year but we will never stay at the Bushwhack Lodge again.

While the lodging was adequate, there were several short-comings. The windowsills in the room were extremely dusty and dirty. One of the sliding doors to the closet was laying on the floor in the closet. While there was a coffee maker in the room, there were no filters, coffee, creamer, sugar etc. Although there was ice available from the bar (office) there was no container (bucket) for it in the room. The area attraction brochures in the room were 1-2 years old. The flapper valve in the toilet was leaking slowly, so the toilet would operate periodically throughout the night. The most serious problem was that the smoke detector had apparently fallen from the ceiling and was in one of the closed desk drawers - a true life-safety issue.

This room was not as advertised! No kitchenette as advertised, not even a microwave. A small mini fridge and a couple paper plates and cups. Bed was ok. Broken lamp. Paper thin walls. Dirty bathroom including missing tiles and mold around the tub. Used towels left behind the door. Dirt gathered in the room corner, one small end table and 3 chairs. Very inconvenient. No closet and cupboard contained random items possibly left by previous guests and another one had a bedspread stuffed on the floor. Would not go back.

Staff check in was good and 2 room suite was mostly clean and okay-old but an okay face lift. Seems over priced. For $160 a night, it was disappointing to have coffee but not no sugar or creamer packets AND no coffee cups - you can’t put hot coffee into thin plastic water cups 🤦‍♀️ And there was old used soap bars in the shower. Come on owners - do a better job at training and monitoring your cleaning staff. And put some damn coffee mugs in the kitchen. Will not stay here again.
