Budget Inn Watkins Glen

The owner is nice. Very close to the fall, only 5mn driving We had an issue with the room and the owner was able to change us right away. They have also free breakfast!

We took a last minute trip, and hotels and motels were limited. After reading all the reviews, we chose the Budget Inn—normally not a name I would consider. Check-in was easy, the outside are was clean and inviting, and the room was remodeled and clean. Parking was outside the door which made carrying luggage easy as well. There was a small breakfast bar set up in the morning, and checkout was as easy as checking in. The location is at the south side of town with a grocery store and CVS across the street and a large ice cream shop directly beside us.

I've stayed at the Budget Inn 3 times over the past 10 years. It's not a 5-star hotel but I felt a need to review it because it is much more than it seems from a distance. I've stayed in hotels at all levels, and the Budget Inn "punches above its weight." The rooms are good-sized and clean, the bed is very comfortable and the carpets, bedding, towels, curtains all seem in excellent shape--not stained, torn or worn-appearing. In addition, everything in the room works--the dresser drawers open and close like new--and the bathroom mirror has electric anti-fog. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room, which is particularly helpful as there is a supermarket right across the street. Positive: Location Negative: Mattress was like sleeping on a cardboard box, it was horrible.

Very clean. Light continental breakfast. Only issue was trying to checkout. No easy way to checkout and waited for nearly 10 minutes for someone to come to the desk to leave keys (these are actual keys with room numbers). There was no drop box. Minor inconvenience but would not want a key I'm responsible for left where someone else could pick it up because it was unattended.
