We meet a Leap on a shuttle bus in Glacier. The next day we drove to Polebridge for the Huckleberry Bear Claws(which were amazing) and wound up at Bowman lake. I wanted a place to swim. All the parking was full but when we drove through the campground we saw a familiar face. Leap. She was the campground host. She gave us an amazing tour of the lake and a great place for private swim. This was definitely a highlight in our trip
What a great place to go visit and camp. Plenty of large campsites, complete with picnic tables and a fire ring. There are primitive restrooms and NO showers. There are a couple of trails that go along the lake and lots of lake front viewing area. It is off the beaten path, and there are ZERO cell phones services at the lake, be aware of this.
There is zero chance I'd take my RV to this campground, but it is an absolutely delightful place to visit and tent camp. I highly recommend making the trek. The road had more traffic than expected for a week day in September, but make an adventure of it.
The views here are top tier! Very highly recommended even if you spend 5 minutes soaking up the view after a short walk from the parking lot. There is one disabled/handicapped parking spot near the lake so everyone can see the view. I did not experience any bugs/mosquitoes except for seeing a few tiny houseflies and an occasional butterfly. You won’t be disappointed.
Absolutely beautiful campground! I went up for the evening to check out the lake for sunset. As you can tell in the photos, the smoke from the fires was pretty intense but it was still absolutely gorgeous. Parking was easy and plentiful. The lake was extremely peaceful. I wish I had a paddleboard to be able to go out onto the water to get the full experience. Note that the single road up to the campsite is narrow, dirt, and windy as hell. If you're from south florida, be ready for a bit of a challenge if you're a nervous driver. If you're from mountainess areas, you'll be fine. Be sure to start your navigation PRIOR to losing service or download offline maps as the road from the park in is a little strange since it cuts through some private residential areas if you enter from the west g
