Black Mountain Inn

Simply an awful experience. The place was shabby. It was run down and the owner just straight lied to us about the amenities that were there and nothing was there that was promised we were told we could have a room on the first floor and that was available when we get there and that was not true. We found that there is sheets were dirty and it was very dusty and unkept. It smelled like mildew. I love rustic experiences, but this was not what we signed up for. We ended up having to leave and stay somewhere else. The owner refused to give back our money. Needs to be shut down

It’s not a bed and breakfast, or at least we didn’t see breakfast. We stayed in the artist loft and it was very roomy….maybe too roomy? Just a space heater for the entire floor. No coffee in the room. Small paper cups instead of real water glasses. The lobby is drab and the place just feels sad. The innkeepers probably are convalescing in older age and not very outgoing for innkeepers. I love old houses and historic places but this place was just luke-warm. The room should have been maybe $100.00. This place does have so much potential.

NOT AS ADVERTISED. This is NOT a quaint, cozy bed & breakfast. This is a poorly maintained 130-year-old building. The Buncombe County Building and Safety Commission should be notified of the unsafe and unclean conditions there. There was a disgusting array of dirt and animal hair on the floor under the bed. The rooms tilt so much the floors are separating from the walls. The lights don’t work in several rooms. The bathrooms were definitely not Covid clean. The walkway steps are unlit and slippery making it very hazardous to traverse at night. Ms. June Bergerson purports to be the innkeeper. This must not be her sole source of income or she has been at it too long and needs to retire. Her “Mountain Hospitality” was woefully inept. Do not be fooled that she gives a hoot about you. We

The Black Mountain Inn is cozy and a bit quirky—it dates back to 1830 so it deserves its charming eccentricity. And it’s steeped in major league literary and artistic history. Very naturally, the rooms transport you to another time and place. Host and owner June prepared the gourmet breakfast and is the person you want to hear talk about Black Mountain. What is the point of traveling if you’re not open to experiences like this?

Our stay was absolutely lovely. Will be back! We stayed in the Emili room and it was wonderful. June was welcoming and provided coffee for us in the morning.
