First time to the Bighorn, first time fly fishing, and first time catching big trout — all thanks to our incredible guide, Colton Mirabal. On our first morning, Colton spent the first couple of hours teaching us the basics of fly fishing, both in general and specific to the Bighorn River. Not long after, we were catching fish!||By our third day, we were landing trout over 20 inches. Colton has the patience to teach beginners and the skill to quickly untangle lines, tie knots, and get you back on the water in no time. My son and I made unforgettable memories this week.||Thank you, Colton Mirabal and Bighorn Angler!

Whether Riverview Lodge or newest Overlook Lodge (pictured) you can't go wrong! Get the full package with guide and food. The food is awesome! Bighorn Angler will treat you right! There are other lodges and private cabins too, call them!!

I am an accomplished terminal tackle guy, so not being an experienced fly-fisherman, I was wondering how I'd do - My guide (Phil) was one of the best I have ever met, and he coached me through the best two days of trout fishing (I have fished other famous MT rivers plus one in AK)...I am so happy that I went here, so happy with the entire experience. I WILL return, for sure. The lodging is just fine, the food is really, really good, the people are absolutely wonderful (a reflection of the owner/management), but most of all: Enjoy this fishery.

We had our first time fishing the Bighorn at Ft. Smith. Great to have the rural feel, fishing guides haven for big Browns & Rainbows. The Fish that Got Away on my line was so huge that I could not even land it. Great nymphing for us rookies. Our guide, Bryen, got us in the pools, and kept rowing up the eddies so we had More Chances to land a trout. ||The Lodge is simple, clean, serving great meals with local beef ( 4H raised!), Gracious kitchen staff. The lodge does a great job with the current Covid-19 restrictions. Everyone is happy. Go fishing!

Our third trip in a row and somehow it just keeps getting even better! Fishing with Pete Shanafelt is as good as it gets. We've never had a guide with better instincts or vision. He seems like an old friend by now and each day is filled with big, beautiful and very hot Rainbows and Browns as well as good food and much laughter. When the Big Horn is on ,as it has been for us all 3 years, there can't be a river to compare. The accomadations are comfortable and convenient and the food served up by Linnie and George is amazing given the remoteness of the location. We have so many fond memories of Pete, the staff and huge fish caught and missed. Already booked for next year!
