Best Western Plus Chena River Lodge

No quite sure what the Plus status means, but maybe corporate should re-evaluate. The room was cleanish with a few carpet stains. Beds were comfortable. We needed to open the window to air the room out because smelled like cigarette smoke. The back of the bathroom door had no paint on the bottom 5-6" due to chipping/peeling. Breakfast was acceptable - the average Best Western hot breakfast fare. It is way past time to clean your carpets. See photo. This alone is what brought this review down to 3. On the positive side, staff was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our full day sightseeing in Fairbanks. Note: there is no shuttle service to/from the airport. This hotel does NOT have an airport shuttle, which was disappointing due to its proximity. Front desk staff was, as another stated, “indifferent”. Room was clean and beds were comfy. Yes, a little musty smell, but nothing out of the ordinary. Not bad, but have stayed at better. Could be great with a few tweaks.

We stayed here for 5 nights and were very pleased with our stay. The staff we interacted with were all very friendly. The room itself was clean and with a comfortable bed and blackout curtains.||There was plenty of parking available and the hotel is across the street from a large grocery store. There's also a water bottle filler in the lobby and free cookies provided in the afternoon/evening. Another major plus was the location was less than 5 minutes to the airport, which made catching flightseeing tours very easy.||The one improvement could be the breakfast. It was ok, but higher quality bacon, eggs, etc. would be beneficial.

Positive: Room amenities were excellent, better than Princess River Lodge. Negative: Smoking near the front entrance. Consider moving smoke g area away from the door.

The front desk was not very friendly. The room was not very clean, particularly the mirror the best word soft and comfortable. The eating area was dirty, and the floors were dirty. I would not recommend this place. In addition it advertised a shuttle which it no longer has
