Beacon South Beach Hotel

Do not stay here. This hotel is filthy. The carpets have likely ever been vacuumed or cleaned. There was trash on the lobby floor- the same stuff in the same locations throughout our stay. |The a/c dumped water all over our belongings and the over-full dehumidifier beeped periodically. The smoke detector batteries have not been changed and they beep periodically. |You have to work really hard to flush the toilet. The area is very loud and there was yelling in the hallways early in the morning. The staff couldn’t have cared less about our concerns. I’m just glad we didn’t get bedbugs.

This hotel was an absolutely terrible experience. The property description and amenities were completely misrepresented. The booking photos appear heavily altered and AI-generated, which does not reflect the actual condition of the hotel. It is dated and old. The listed amenities stated that the room included a robe and ironing board, neither of which were present. The elevator was inoperable the entire weekend. We had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs repeatedly. Each time we asked about it, we were told it was being worked on and would be running shortly, which never happened. While the beds were clean, they were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was dated, moldy, and unsanitary. The bathtub had clearly been painted over to conceal rust and other defects. Avoid this hotel. The location on Ocean Drive is great, but that is the only positive. The hotel is old, dirty, and clearly poorly maintained. There was no hot water, flushing the toilet was a struggle every time, and even after asking multiple times we never received extra towels. The hallways were dirty, the elevator was not working, and during the rain the upper floors were literally flooded. The only bright spot was the kind gentleman who hands out beach towels. For the price and location, this place should offer much better standards. In its current condition, the hotel desperately needs a full renovation.

Do not stay here if you have any mobility issues or value your safety. I am adding my voice to the many other recent reviews here: THE ELEVATOR IS BROKEN and management is doing nothing to accommodate guests. ​We checked in on Feb 27 and were put on the 4th floor. My husband is disabled and cannot use stairs. When we brought this to the staff’s attention (C.), we were told to 'come back at 10 PM' to talk to a manager. When we did, they admitted they had NO ground-floor rooms available. ​The hotel is now lying to Expedia, claiming we didn't 'disclose' a disability. Under federal law (28 CFR § 36.211), a working elevator is a basic amenity and a required accessible feature. I should not have to 'pre-order' a way to get to my room. The service is garbage. We paid almost a $200 deposit when checking in, and what we got for that price was: no housekeeping (even when we had a sign on our door saying to please clean) for the 5 days we stayed, the TV on the wall doesn’t work, the fridge didn’t work so we couldn’t even save food or drinks, the elevator was broken the entire stay, the only way we got new anything (like towels or soap) was asking—and that was if we happened to see someone. The location isn’t too bad, nice to be right next to the beach, but surrounding places are expensive since it is more for tourists. We found going out further was somewhat better in prices though!
