Basecamp Tahoe City

Nicely refreshed motor lodge. Location is ideal.  Rooms were functional and clean. Simple, with some nice touches like s’mores packages and nice fire pits. Outdoor spaces were not otherwise inviting or well maintained.   Service was pretty perfunctory. A glamping take that works for a few nights.

🏕️✨💫 Perfect location — just a few steps from the lake 🌊 and right next to a shopping center 🛍️. The room? Huge and spotless — you could probably play mini golf in there if you wanted. ⛳️ And the shower… oh my goodness, the shower! 🚿 Three pressure modes, pure joy. Finally, not one of those tragic bathtubs 🛀 where no sane person would ever attempt to “take a bath.” Whoever designed this shower deserves a medal. 🥇 Plus, the bathroom window actually opens (hello, fresh mountain air! 🌬️). Reception was great — friendly staff, offered us hot water and tea right away ☕️. The walls are thick (a rare blessing!) so no noisy neighbors or chilly drafts ❄️. The bed was big, clean, and the pillows — chef’s kiss 👌 — soft but supportive. I take my pillow comfort seriously, and these passed the test! 😴

Super awesome little hotel right in the heart of downtown Tahoe city! Walkable to everything and nice parking. Very cozy rooms and lobby where you can get a beer, roast some s’mores on one of their fire pits, and you can even get a sneak peak of the lake from some of their rooms! Awesome place and will be coming back.

Third time staying here -- each has been great. Had the bunk room with 2 sons ages 11 and 18. Great set up, and the lobby fireplace room is super cozy. Had beers and popcorn every night here. My 11 year old enjoyed the room and popcorn and had a hot chocolate. Chill staff and interesting guest experience. Great experience for the $ paid and a nice change to over the top Tahoe area lodges. I've also stayed at the one in Boulder -- same thing. Love them and will continue to visit.

Overall my wife and I really liked this hotel. It’s very quiet and comfortable. The common areas are nice and the happy hour beer selection was great. Our only complaint is that the carpet in our room was very dirty and in need of a good shampooing. We wore our flip flops instead of walking barefoot. With all the positive things here, I was surprised by the filthy carpet. Hopefully that will change in the future. 🤞
