bantr Grand Hotel Wausau - Rothschild

This is one of my new favorite hotels I've stayed in. They have a great pool/hottub, all different sizes of rooms, a great continental free breakfast, and a top of the line gym with more than everything you need. Granite Peak is less than 10 minutes away as well as just a short drive (and some walking) distance from tons of shopping and restaurants. Lots of parking spaces at the hotel too. Staff are very friendly. This is going to be our new spot for our yearly ski trip and at such an affordable rate, you can't beat it. They also offer a AAA/government/military discount.

The Location is great. Our room was a studio suite with fireplace, which was very nice. I felt the room was clean, and the public hotel bathrooms were very clean. It's a huge facility that appears to be going through a transition as it was pretty vacant and appeared abandoned. It was pet friendly which was nice. The downside, the bathroom tub needed a light above the tub as it was very dark when taking a shower. Even with the grab bars in the tub, my husband who has mobility issues was not comfortable taking a shower. We'd stay again if we are visiting the area. I hope they are able to revive it to it's prior glory.

We booked a king with bunk room and stayed over the holidays to do some skiing. We found the room to be less than clean and smelly, the sheets on the twin bed had blood and hair on them, the bathroom had a big splotch in the middle of the floor and the toiletries were half full and open still. I attempted to check in online but it never did work so went to the counter. I asked about getting a higher floor, we go to bed early and she just said there was only one floor above us...no options or questions. I sent an email about the issues, and they called, but they never sent the sheets/pillowcases. We decided to make our room work but then there was an issue with the heat. The heat never did quite work right in the room as much as we turned it up, it was still pretty cold. All in all,

Really nice hotel with huge rooms, but oddly large and empty. If you go, take a peak through the curtains near the bar and you can see the construction site where the old water park was. Weird location across the street from a mostly vacant mall and near the power plant

Stayed two nights. First night was great, the hamburger in their bar was amazing. Gentleman at the bar was really polite. The woodwork done in the rooms is nice. I found hair stuck to the walls in the shower and the grout was discolored. TV sounded like it had a blown speaker. I would suggest bringing some sort of air freshener with you.
