Avalon Hotel Miami

Very friendly staff at the reception and in the restaurant. The employees are helpful and polite. Excellent food at the restaurant. Hotel guests get discounts on breakfast, and there is free, unlimited coffee and tea if you are hotel quest. The main advantage of the hotel is, of course, its location right on Ocean Drive. However, the hotel itself looks a bit dated. While the rooms and restaurant were clean, some elements could use a refresh, such as the hallway carpets, windows in the room, or the bathroom doors, which were squeaky :) Air conditioner was a bit too loud. Internet was working fine, but could be a bit faster. We are at the Avalon and the meals were delicious - tuna and shrimp for mains and the rockafella oysters for a starter. Only issue was there were two very large groups which made our order take forever, thank you to our server for a complimentary glass for wine but think a heads up about wait time would have been good. Location is outstanding.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Avalon Hotel. Classic Art Deco spot right in the heart of South Beach. The room was clean and comfortable, with a handy fridge and all the essentials for a relaxing stay. They provide beach chairs and towels, which made heading across the street to the beach super easy. On-site restaurant, A Fish Called Avalon, had an excellent seafood and a vibrant atmosphere with live music every night on the ground-level terrace. Perfect for people watching on Ocean Drive! Overall, a charming, convenient choice for anyone wanting that iconic South Beach vibe.

Essentially the only redeeming thing about this hotel is its location. To be fair, the staff was kind, but they were barely accommodating. When we arrived to check in, we were charged an $80 "resort fee" which I had otherwise not been informed about. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry our full-size luggage up two flights of stairs to the third floor. The stairway was old, tiny, and mildewy, much like the rest of the hotel. When we entered our room, the air was stale with a tinge of mold. There was no vent in the bathroom. The bed was mediocre, pillows deflated, and the sheets had that same stale smell with no hint of detergent at all. The TV was nice and new, probably the second-most redeeming quality of the hotel. On top of all of that, the WiFi didn't work for half of our stay.

My wife and I checked into the Avalon Hotel on Ocean Drive to start our work week in Miami and checked out less than an hour later. That should tell you everything. The hotel was in a shocking state. Dirty and unclean throughout. The lift was broken, the toilet in our room didn’t work properly, and there was hair left in the bath when we arrived. On top of that, the place was noisy and generally felt neglected. What made it worse was the attitude. When we told the staff we were checking out immediately, there was no concern, no attempt to resolve anything, just a casual “yeah, cool.” It was clear they didn’t care, and that speaks volumes about how the place is run. I genuinely have nothing positive to say about this hotel. It’s unacceptable, unhygienic, and poorly managed. Highly do not
