Anchor Inn By The Sea

Asia, Africa. Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Canada, Mexico - my wife or I have been to them all multiple times. But our favorite and first vacation choice is Anchorage Inn by the Sea, hosted by Greg and Mary Bolshakoff, Ketchikan Alaska. The views-capes from the suites and decks are remarkably beautiful and ever changing. It’s not unusual to see whales sounding and occasionally bubble feeding. All manner of fishing boats, cruise ships, yachts, tugs boats and barges, kayaks and skiffs cross your view. And then just open water and sky.. The accommodations are well equipped and feel like home. Fishermen, hikers, photographers, shoppers, tourists will all find a home there. We |have been regular visitors for all but one of the last 15 years.

When my husband and I went on our first vacation in four years, we really wanted to go somewhere special. After a few weeks of searching I found this little place just outside of Ketchikan. The pictures were so lovely. I can tell you, they did not do the place justice. It was like staying in a postcard! Mary, the owner of the property was so welcoming and kind. Upon leaving, I was in such a rush that I left a fragile gift that was meant for my mother-in-law. She was so sweet and mailed the item home to me! We hope to return and visit again some day. Definitely a 10/10 experience!

Anchor Inn by the Sea surpasses your expectations! The suites are comfortable and well equipped. A car is needed since it's 4 miles from town - serenity out back- nature at the doorstep- whales, seals, eagles and jumping salmon! Bear watching just a few miles up the road at Herring Cove (Powerhouse Rd)- great kitchen, gorgeous view of the channel. TV and wi-fi.|New large Three Bears grocery store just minutes down the road in Saxman.|This was my second stay and I hope to come again. Anchor Inn is "living the dream"- can't thank Mary and Greg enough for sharing their stunning home!|Make reservations early to avoid disappointment! (For both the Inn and a vehicle!) Misty Fjords is magical- take the boat trip!

Almost a year later, I realized I failed to review this truly wonderful Inn. Everything about our stay, which was to visit son & family, checked all the boxes. Full 1 bdrm suite w kitchen, on the water, whales, sea going boats, lovely landscaping and the nicest hosts imaginable! Do need a car bc itself a short drive into town, but that's a plus in our book! We loved Ketchikan and hope to return for longer visit next time...2 weeks not enough! Oh, complimentary laundry and even had boots & fishing gear for our use. Unlike any place we've enjoyed in US or abroad. Highly recommend, unequivocally.

What a wonderful place to stay! Greg and Mary are wonderful hostesses and our stay at Captain Morgan’s Suite was absolutely top of the line. It was well stocked, clean, and spacious. The kitchen had everything one could need to prepare and enjoy meals. The views of the cove are more than spectacular and we were able to see whales, eagles, seals, and more. It is far enough from town that you will need a car . We can’t wait to return!||Cindy H
