Allegheny Springs

Do not expect anything higher than a motel 6 quality for the rooms. They are not maintained well at all and the cleaning service after each seemed extremely low quality. You didn’t go here to stay in the room but it was very shocking how much help the rooms needed. What we loved was the ski in and out! It was great just to walk out and hit the slopes. They really need to refresh the rooms and really have the rooms cleaned after checking out. Not bad for the first trip to Snowshoe, but we will be looking at a different place to stay.

One of the few resorts on the mountain that is ski in ski out and has outdoor heated pool and 2 hot tubs. They also give you free access to the Split Rock Pools that is right next door (it's basically 10 feet walk on the sidewalk from the front door of Allegheny springs). We've stayed here both times we've been to Snowshoe. It's so nice being slopeside and right in the village. I ordered Starbucks every morning and could walk to go get it. Every issue we had during our stay was handled swifty by the amazing staff. Valet is super convenient when there's no parking available on a sold out mountain and costs $20/day.

We recently visited Snowshoe for the first time and stayed at Allegheny Springs (Room 214). Our experience was fantastic! Welcoming/helpful staff at the front desk, kind ski instructors for our boys, and friendly staff at the ski lifts. We are a family of four (boys ages 11 and 14) and stayed in a studio room. It was very clean, had been updated, and the kitchenette was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed being able to store our skis in the locker room and having such close proximity to the slopes! Other reviews may make you shy away from Allegheny Springs, but we had a fantastic experience and do not think our experience was an anomaly.

Overall great place with everything you need for a wonderful ski trip. Perfect location for the village and several good lifts. The wildcats beeping outside the windows at 3 or 4 in the morning can be a nuisance if you're a light sleeper.

Set LOWWWW expectations. I'll add more later but generally... the staff here is clueless. All properties are individually /private owned so staff could not careless about anything (hard to even get additional trash bags or toilet paper three days into our stay). Clueless staff. Don't expect anything other than the benefit of ski in and ski out.
