ABVI/Palmer Inn

VERY VERY VERY unpleasant stay. Only reason we followed through with staying is, no refunds! Called to book a room, wanted a suite and showed up and it is a one story hotel. The suite I was given had an old chair that had stains all over it. Walked in, and was met with a very strong strange odor. Found a toad in the room 149 by the sink. Employees did not believe us when they saw us throwing it out. Which the room is located to the right, next door to the main office they visually watched us throw it out then didn’t believe it was in the room. Poor cleaning. The walls have visible dirt and mud on them, along with handprints and prior blood from bugs. bathroom floors are sticky. Sheets had nasty stuff on them. Dirty, noisy. Dead bugs smashed on the walls, leaking sink, filthy fan vent, peeling paint, no noise or light suppression through old windows/door, broken security bar on door, and key cards all have room number written on them so not likely changed between guests. Bed was comfy but light switches were unreachable without getting up. No outlets near bed. No modern conveniences like usb ports.water in shower was good pressure and warm enough but suspicious spots on shower curtain (mold?), dirty floor and the filthiest vent fan I think I've ever seen. Also no refund for last two days of planned stay even with 4 days notice. Also no breakfast even though advertised.

Positive: LocationPrice Negative: Smelled bad.Air conditioner stunk and was loud.Not much for breakfast and the eating room seemed dark and dirty.

Room was clean. Beds comfy. Plenty of towels.|The people were nice.|There was no soap in the soap dispenser in the shower. The Kleenex dispenser was empty. |It was fine for what I paid.

Although a little farther from the highway than we usually stay, this is a quaint little place with great service and comfortable rooms. We experienced an issue with the shower not draining and the staff was very accommodating in finding a solution. The complimentary breakfast is somewhat lacking. They are a dog friendly hotel, which is importantly to us.
