The property is super clean, thoughtfully designed, and has such a cool, funky boutique vibe that makes it stand out from typical chain hotels. The rooms are big, comfortable, and well laid out — plenty of space to relax and unwind. The location is unbeatable. Right in the heart of Hillcrest with easy access to restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife, and everything San Diego has to offer. You can walk almost everywhere, which makes it perfect for a weekend getaway or longer stay. Lee and his wife have done an amazing job creating a welcoming atmosphere. I think this hotel is great. Very unique and some may not like it, but I was very happy. Amazing location steps to many bars, restaurants and shops. Short walk to Balboa Park or a short Uber ride and you're in downtown, Old Town, Little Italy, the beach, bay, etc. A cool cafe in the lobby with fresh and interesting food. And lots of seating in the ground level courtyard so you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or do some work. ||My room was on three levels with tons of windows and amazing views (5th floor facing the bay). Super comfortable, clean, everything worked. Codes to operate the door and elevator so it's secure and you don't have to carry a key around with you. ||The bathroom is genuinely weird. Once upon a time, I needed somewhere affordable to stay while in town for a concert and Abpopa totally fit the bill. What I didn't know that time was how strange the efficiency bathrooms were, plonked right in the middle of the room without a firm doorway to separate it out from the rest. The rooms are awkwardly laid out, with a TV in the middle facing the... sink, and there are definitely touch ups needed here and there. But as far as affordable accommodations go in a killer location (Hillcrest!), it would be hard to beat this. So unbeatable that I just wrapped up my second stay with them. You won't be sitting in the lap of luxury, but no one is pretending you will be.

I stayed at this property during a recent solo trip to San Diego, booked through Booking.com. It’s not a traditional hotel but more of an apartment-style setup, with a modern look from the outside. Check-in & Security The property has very tight security—everything is keypad-locked, from the main gate to the elevator and your room. They also provide a parking space, which was a big plus since I had a car. Initially, I had trouble locating the lot, but when I called, the staff responded quickly and guided me. Their communication overall was excellent—no concierge on-site, but whenever I called or texted, they got back to me promptly. Right in the middle of all the best things to do in hillcrest. Only 2 short blocks from Mo's bar and grill (super fun) and hash house agogo. Rooms are great and big . You cant beat the price for the location. The air-conditioning was perfect. And I wasn't expecting the beautiful views of the surrounding area. Lots of windows to see everything. Cool minimalist modern vibe with everything you need . The bed was so comfortable. The down comforter was heaven, even the pillows were good.
