I loved my stay at the hotel. I was worried because I had read some reviews mentioning scams, but I only have good things to say about the hotel. The location is perfect, the room was very clean, the reception staff were kind, and the room was very good and quiet. My deposit was returned on the same day, and Eliza was extremely kind to me. 31 Street Broadway Hotel is a basic, budget-friendly spot near Penn Station and Herald Square. Location is convenient for trains, Macy's, and Midtown exploring. Rooms are small and dated (bed okay, but bathroom needs update, some noise from street). Service was average—staff friendly but not always quick. It's cheap for NYC, so fine if you're just sleeping and out all day, but expect no-frills.

My partner Tina and I wanted to see NY in December 25 and due to the location and the fairly high accommodation prices we decided to stay at this hotel where the price was quite solid.||We paid in advance and when we arrived at the hotel we were "ordered" to pay a deposit, which would be returned after departure. Since I didn't think it was unusual at the time, I agreed and gave the clerk my bank card. When he wanted to withdraw a deposit of $175 for 4 nights, the cash machine didn't work. He tried another one and it didn't work either. Since it didn't work, he said he wouldn't give me the key unless I paid the deposit and since the card didn't work, I should pay with cash, which I found quite strange, because my card had always worked until then and it also worked when I then withdrew cas

The service is extremely bad, took my deposit in cash and never gave it back and didnt inform that in order to get it back in cash it cant be during holidays or weekends. We arent even living in the US and were informed that they will transfer the deposit by paypal or any type of way to get the transfer: eliza the manager in charge of our bedroom has blocked my number seeveral times and ignores the calls and messages several times and keeps trying to push the situation to the next day and doesnt want to deal with it and now is blaming it on me and if i want the deposit to come get it in person while i dont even live in the US!

First, I'd say this was the most affordable option in this area of town. So, understand you get what you pay for. Room - clean and functional. Other than the 3rd mattress being a little less than a thin pad, and one mattress wasn't quite flat, the room was fine. Bathrooms - Shared with the entire floor. This only caused me an issue once, where I had to wait about 10 minutes for facilities. Not a huge issue for me. Shower - NOWHERE to place your things. Would strongly recommend the hotel take the very cheap cost of installing a hook and a small shelf in each shower stall. Overall, we had a great experience. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. Location was amazing and overall the place was clean.
