I would not recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting NYC. While the actual room itself was pretty great, the check-in process smooth and the location superb I think you could likely get those same amenities and more for $30 more a night at other hotels in the area. Our biggest problem with the room was our inability to get in contact with any employees. While we understand that the hotel was generally self-service there is an expectation that at least one person should be reachable and that didn’t occur. We were locked out of our room during check out (which was completely our mistake) and getting back in required waiting for 4 hours, multiple phone calls, and emails with generally unresponsive and unclear communication. It looks decent but upon further inspection it is a collection of the cheapest items you can find - an undersized fridge, a child sized “futon”, a piece of hard foam mattress and absolutely nothing that could justify its luxury price point in the short term rental market. For an adult, it would be hard to stay here for more than a short weekend and you should look elsewhere to be comfortable. Easy check-in process and friendly cleaning staff and maintenance though.

Booked the place months ago and now they cancelled on the day itself after not answering any message we sent. We just landed in New York and the booking was cancelled, after check in time was already started

Nice Staff, nice room, free snacks in the room. We were attending an event and looking for a hotel close to the venue. Found 138 Bowery and decided to give it a try. Glad we did! This is a great hotel downtown and close to Chinatown. Very conveniently located within walking distance of the subway system. There were some complementary snacks in the room, which was a surprise. The room was very nice and had a small terrace that was enclosed. The pics here are consistent with the room where we stayed. Wifi was included with the stay. I titled this review "still getting it together" due to the phones in the room were not working so you could not contact the front desk unless you had your own phone. Very nice hotel in an area that is getting a lot better. Great staff and very helpful and friendly. The room was large and clean. The rest of the place is a work in progress. No cable TV in the room, you have to use your own Netflix account. No clock or radio, harsh lighting, no desk chair. The previous room occupant still had their Netflix account on the TV. It should have been wiped clean after they left the hotel. If none of these things matter then enjoy. We had a nice visit but I travel a lot and prefer a few of these luxuries especially at these prices.
