Zippel Bay State Park

We camped 2 nights at Lady Slipper and thoroughly enjoyed the remoteness of it all. We were there after Labor Day and overall guest traffic was light so it was especially peaceful. The birding is incredible!

Beautiful sandy brad access area. Nice boat ramp. All sorts of wildlife everywhere. Beautiful birds and dragonfly’s galore. Lovely place to visit. The playground looked like a lot of fun too.

Too many biting flies. Nice beach walk, and in the woods along the Hiking Club trail, but seriously, the flies!! They were only slightly deterred by deet.

An absolutely unexpected gem. Being from the cities, I think of Lake of the Woods, as, well, a lake in a woodsy area. Zippell Bay looks more like beach on a sea. The driftwood is cool and the hiking trails are scenic and well-groomed.

Great state park, my favorite actually. A lot of times there's only a handful of other campers. Wouldn't recommend if you have young children as the main attraction is the lake and just a few hiking paths. Absolutely amazing spot for the summer solstice.
