Yellow Post Campsite #7

Beautiful views and location but the actual space is covered in fine dirt and a LOT of ash from people building past wood fires within the rock shelter area. Our entire gear was covered in black ash. Also, there is absolutely no shade here. It may not be bad if you bring enough canopies but the breeze picks up in the evening and you have to make sure everything is secured down. Personally, I would not recommend if you are camping on the ground at all. Truck camping or overlanding isn't bad if you can keep it all off the ground but again, very little shade. The rocks hold the heat and the minute the sun pops over the hill at approx 6am being in a tent is unbearable even when the air temp is only 60°. Won't be returning to this spot myself as a family but glad we took a chance to try

Came here on Wed the 3rd. Nice spot if you can get it. Got here by noon to do so. Great place to relax and was quiet for the most part as holiday offroaders were on the trails. Had 2 nights of howling coyotes, but once we released our cryptid specimen, they were all handled. Not far from Fawnskin if you need or forgot supplies. Firewood can be bought from the campground 5 minutes away. The camp host Tom is nice. Please remember to take out your trash, which can be disposed of at the ORV staging area 3 minutes away.

8/9/25. We’ve stayed here before but not this time because it was taken already but we found a spot really close to #7 though. We were enjoying everything with my family, went up to our tent to enjoy a movie and around 12:30 - 1am you can hear loud side by sides (Rzrs) and other vehicles, at least 5 that we saw, driving fast blasting music around the roads. We suddenly heard a lot of guns shots! It sounded like a war zone! They were unloading and they were close by. Some drove past our campsite. We decided to hurry and leave in the middle of the night. Probably won’t be back for a while. Be safe!

Nice spot! Clean, easy to get to. 0/1 bar Verizon hit & miss getting messages in & out. Went on a Thursday with a weather forecast of snow. 😊

Not allot of shade, extremely ashy from past fires in different locations of the site. Just not an enjoyable camp.
