Stayed in cabin #2. Paid for two nights, got in around 8pm and left the next morning by 9am due to how dirty our cabin was. I understand that these cabins are old, but this was more than that. Under the beds there is a bunch of dust and dirt, the cabinets and chairs are grimy, the shower curtain is brown at the bottom, sheets did not seem to be cleaned as there was a screen protector left on the top of the bed, and we later found the sticky part in between the pillows, provided a centimeter of hand soap in the bathroom and the hand soap bottle in the kitchen was broken. No communication on how to check in besides a white board near the office. If these cabins had a proper deep clean they would be great, but until then…
Under new management and working on improvements, this little spot was a great place to take a zero day in the middle of 75 miles hiked on the Colorado Trail. Owners were kind and friendly. Cabins were well kept, but a little old. No issues with appliances or fixtures. Cabin temp was a bit warm mid day but windows opened just fine. ||||Since they are working on renovations it was easy to "pardon the dust."||||A lot of potential once they finish cleaning the place up, but I am more than willing to visit again as is.
Best hidden gem! The owners are amazing, room was spotless. Perfect for your own little getaway! Dogs are welcome. It is very peaceful and minutes away from shops and hot springs. I will be back!
It was quite warm inside our cabin when we got there. No one uses or has AC at that elevation, and for some reason, the heat was on all day prior to our arrival/check-in. So it was very warm until it eventually cooled off late at night. Anyway, we stayed here the night before hiking Mt. Elbert, and it worked well! The bathroom situation was great, and the bed was comfortable. There was a mini fridge too. We boiled the tap water before drinking it, but we were being extra cautious. I’m not actually sure if you need to do that, but I do know that they recommend not drinking the water from the stream on Mt. Elbert.
I had the absolute pleasure of staying there at the end of August! The owners were very friendly, I felt unbelievably safe and the room was very very clean. It’s such an easy drive to get to. You have your own little private space with a kitchen, and a TV and a comfortable bed. And it’s a perfect little escape for anybody!!!
