Wingate by Wyndham New Castle - Glenwood Springs

Definitely should have read the reviews before I booked it, but I was under the assumption that it was a different hotel that was owned by the same company. First off: the entrance of the hotel was not that well marked, took a moment to find it, the hotel was hidden by over growth weeds of some sort. Second: when walking into the room you are met with a musty smell that I can only assume is mold that is hiding somewhere whether it’s in the AC unit/walls/ or ceiling. After being in the room for a while, my allergies started to act up to only continue to add to my assumptions that there is potentially mold hiding somewhere. While this hotel might be a "deal" hotel being outside of Glenwood Springs, it lacks a lot to be desired. Some of these comments on their own aren't a big deal, but altogether it's too much. I'll first start off with the noise. We could hear noise through the floor above us, and the neighbors on the other side of the walls. From slamming doors, to loud music to barking dogs. I would have called to the front desk, but they don't have phones in the room. They also didn't have an ironing board which I had to go track down. The window (on the 1st floor) had wooden poles to use as a security measure, the window only had one lock that didn't work well, the other was broken. If you want sleep and privacy stay somewhere else. Some genius decided that cheap laminate flooring is better than carpet; this leaves a huge gap at the bottom of the door so that every conversation, foot step, and door closing reverberates down the hall and into your room. The walls are paper thin and headboards are back to back between rooms; my neighbors were having loud and forceful s** all night, not only could i hear everything but it shook both beds in my room. Clerk refused to move me so i was forced to change hotels in the middle of the night. A complete lack of sleep messed up the whole trip. There are lots of decent budget hotels in the area. STAY ELSEWHERE.

I stayed here for one night on my way back to Idaho. Reasonable rate considering the location of the property. This hotel is just west of all the areas on the 70 where inclement weather can delay your trip. However, it’s not as far west as Grand Junction. It was a perfect stopping point in Colorado, without being a more costly room in one of the towns to the east. My room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
