Wilderness Lodge Resort

Our experience at this lodge was incredibly disappointing. •Check-in: On day one, the only information we were given at check-in was what time dinner started. No guidance about the lodge, amenities, or even basic information about our cabin. •Cabin Conditions: By day two, we discovered our cabin was infested with mice. The problem was so severe that it was difficult to sleep at night because you could literally hear them running up and down the walls. •Health Concerns: Now that we are home, we just returned from the pediatrician with our 9 month old son, who is covered in ringworm spots. The only positive part of our stay was the food and service during dinner—both were very good. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. This place is wildly overpriced for the poor state it’s in.

Spent 3 days at the RIverside Suites in. It was roomy, clean , rustic but well appointed. The view is different now that the river has carved a new path but the deck is large and a great place to relax. The staff was friendly and responsive. The meals were fresh, flavorful and plentiful with awesome desserts. The bar is a quaint spot for a drink and meeting fellow guests. Had a few things that needed attention but they were resolved quickly. Located close to the state parks and plenty of activities on the grounds too. The manager is a friendly, fun and hard working guy. We enjoyed our time at this place on the Black River.

What once was a wonderful hidden gem is no longer. The breakfasts and dinners were sparse and school cafeteria quality. The bagged lunch was ham and cheese on stale bread. Condensation made the bottom bun wet. The cabin was okay but the water only worked if the neighboring room was not using their water. Sure hope the owners can turn this place around.

If you don’t want to read the whole review I’ll summarize by saying don’t book here, it’s a rundown property with poor food and no good river access. ||The bumpy, crumbling, neglected driveway into the property was the first clue. ||Our cabin was so musty it gave us head aches and runny noses. There was a dehumidifier running (which we emptied three times a day as no one from the property ever came to check on it) and four box fans running when we entered the unit. It had a European style ventless A/C which could not keep up with the heat and left one bedroom unusable at night for sleeping. ||The furniture looked as if it was from the 60’s and the front porch furniture even older. The cabin was sort of clean, the bathroom faucets still had toothpaste spots from previous guests. The

Main dining room is rustic, comfortable and has a well stocked liquor bar. However, aside from having decent linens, the cabin I was assigned needed work to match the descriptions/ images online online. I'd advise guests to bring food and not count on meals provided - especially the "brown bag lunch".
