Upstate Inn Monticello

HUGE SCAM, UNSAFE PLACE! DO NOT BOOK! This “hotel” is literally next to a prison/detention center (check Google Maps!). The whole area felt extremely unsafe. The parking lot looked like a dumpster alley, with broken car parts lying around, and the only signs were handwritten on pieces of paper taped to the windows of abandoned RVs. They claimed the lobby was “under construction,” which is almost certainly felt like a lie, (because so many "positive reviews" are saying it's renovated but it was not/ was undergoing renovations??) and forced us to check in online. We were given a code with a YouTube tutorial on how to open the door. We tried over 50 times and the door wouldn’t open. We called the number mentioned and a man came from a room in the establishment, he couldn’t get it open eithe

Website and possibly fake reviews described it as recently updated and renovated. I never got to see my room because though I booked five days in advance and the confirmation email promised a key at the front desk to a cozy, newly renovated room, the day of check in I got a new email saying that the lobby was “temporarily under construction” and to digitally check in by uploading my ID to a sketchy website. The motel looked nothing like the picture and more like a tumbledown ruins from a horror movie. A sign directed me through a tunnel to the deserted and enclosed rear of the building. An unmarked, filthy door with a keypad was the only apparent entrance, the other entrances being locked and filled with detritus. The code I received by email did not work even after following instructions

This is a very nice, convenient motel! The room was very nice too. I don't have a car, so it was great being just a couple of blocks away from the nearest Shortline stop. The check-in process is very. unique. You get an email around check-in time that gives you instructions on how you get into your room. You fill out your name, a couple of other things I can't remember, take a picture of your ID, and submit the form. Someone emailed me back about 15 minutes later with my room number and the code to the front door. I've never had a check-in experience with barely any humans involved, but it worked, so I'm not complaining. I definitely recommend this motel to those who just need a little place to sleep and leave their things while they explore.

Rooms were nicely renovated. Was able to get into the room ok. Kinda small and the sheets on the bed were thin to sleep with. Location is also very stretchy with the construction and the neighborhood. Location is very quiet at least for the night sleeping there.

Interested in this place. Terrible customer service. The property was inoperable. Bad experience. At 1 a.m., the fire alarm went on. We couldn't sleep. Zero consideration for a refund or the option of another night. Terrible experience. cheap furniture
