UCSB Summer Inn

It is perfect for what we need. My daughter has orientation at UCSB. We came a couple of days early from NYC to check out the campus and the area and visit family. The room and the bathroom are clean. It is a shared bathroom, but there are plenty on the floor, so they is always one available. The campus is beautiful, and it is a five minute walk to town with plenty of food options. I was happy it was also quiet and peaceful.

Don't come here if you're picky, it's a college dorm, available to rent single or double rooms by the night. If you want to be on one of the most beautiful university campuses in the world... and don't want to stay at a hostel, but don't want to pay for a Santa Barbara hotel... this is for you!||||Basic Room - It's a college dormitory. Nothing has changed except it's cleaned daily, the sheets are fresh and clean, and there are multiple private restrooms with showers on each floor that were always clean... though lack any of those extra supplies you may have forgotten. ||||The Value - Summertime in Santa Barbara is amazing! First of all, as you can see from the pictures it's a formal dormitory to stay, compared to the price of hotels nearby, a comparably cheaper choice. So, it's not quite as the university holds a lot of summer activities. You could hear children screaming for playing hide and seek. Late at night, you could even smell gas for no reason. But what caused you dissatisfied most is actually the refund policy. Don't expect to receive a refund even if you qualified for the notice 48 hours ago. They hold my refund and even I keep writing them several times. Here is the story, I early check out 72 hours ago and connect with them via phone, and they agree to refund the last day's charge. Yes, they forewarn that the rooms aren’t air conditioned and fanless, but in addition to a hot room that didn’t cool off much overnight - with the window wide open, campus was noisy until midnight. Frankly, the cost was much too high for what one gets. Finding the check-in location could be made easier.

The location is certainly ideal if you want to visit UC Santa Barbara which is about 11 miles away from the city. A couple of paces and you are at the beach with breathtaking views and it could't get much better than that. As for the accommodation this is basic, however clean and with shared bathroom facilities. Internet is also available, however breakfast is not included and parking is possible on site using a parking pass. Recommended for short stays. Staff are friendly and helpful. Be aware that each room can house a maximum of 2 people. Extra mattress available upon request though. Compared to other accommodation in Santa Barbara this is certainly one of the cheaper no-frills options.
