Tru by Hilton Roanoke Hollins

My experience at this hotel was outstanding. From the moment I arrived, the staff welcomed me with genuine warmth and professionalism, always ready to help with a friendly attitude. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, creating the perfect space to relax. The breakfast was another highlight—fresh, well-prepared, and with enough variety to start the day feeling energized. The dining area was clean and inviting, and the staff made sure everything stayed replenished. The common areas were beautifully maintained, and the service throughout my stay felt smooth and thoughtful, as if every detail was quietly taken care of. We stayed here for one night when driving from Florida to Massachusetts. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the funky vibe. Beds were on the softer side, very comfortable. The bottom sheet was fitted, which I love. Plenty of comfy pillows. The rolling mini desk worked great to hold our pizza. The front desk service was excellent.|A few considerations, that were not problems for us:|Our room didn't have a closet, just a sort of pipe with hangers, and several hooks. |We had two connecting rooms, and the connecting doors had auto-close hinges. We kept the bolts thrown to keep the doors from closing fully. Might not be great for a family with small kids. |The sheets seemed to be microfiber, rather than cotton or cotton blend.

ZERO STARS IF I COULD. Please take this as a warning to RUUUNNN from here, do NOT book here. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. These people do not deserve even a penny from you. I had traveled over 16 hours for my move and usually love Tru by Hilton but this location was absolutely horrendous and now I will never stay at Tru again. Upon arrive, the lady in the front (Carmen or Carla something like that) was rude and RACIST. My family and I are of people of color too so I don’t understand why.. Maybe we aren’t dark enough for her…THEN I ask for two rooms by each other since I am traveling with my elder parents. The front desk then rudely interrupted my mom as she is trying to ask questions. We get to the room and it smells like DOG PISS & MOLD! Mind you, we are allergic to mold.

Positive: Not one thing was liked about this hotel! Negative: Terrible but at least clean. It felt like a hospital room with NO comfort. No smart tv for ANY apps whatsoever. TV is intentionally on “demo mode” with adds constantly covering different areas of the screen. We will never stay at a Tru property again.

We have stayed at several Tru locations thru the Hilton Honors program. We also travel with a service dog and disclose this on the registration form. We stayed Christians Eve at thus location. It was east to find and nice as all the others. I would have given more stars overall if the desk clerk had not been rude and unprofessional. I have a digital key so I only stop at desk for an extra card for my husband and the 2 bottles of water that I received thru Hilton Honors. The check handed me a pet form to complete and I reminded him I had registered a service animal. He proceeded to ask the allowed questions, but since I was tired I told him I had the service badge which I could show him.
