Trinity Outpost Wilderness Resort

We rented the entire campsite for a large group event last year, and it was everything we hoped for and more. Carrie was an incredibly helpful, attentive host from start to finish. She was quick to respond, proactive, and genuinely invested in making sure our group had what we needed. Coordinating a bigger event can get complicated, but she made the whole experience way easier and was very supportive. The venue itself is truly magical. The space is beautiful and the creek is absolutely amazing, easily one of the highlights of the weekend. One note for future guests: the road up can be a bit challenging (especially at night), but in our experience it wasn’t nearly as bad as some other reviews made it sound. I cannot even begin to tell the adventure we had here. Driving to the location seemed a little scary at first( we are from Louisiana flat flat lands) but the roads are clear and ready for visitors. The owner will meet you at the shop at the opening of the retreat and will drive you to your spot. We met some really cool campers, and there are flushable toilets! There are mineral springs that you can take a small hike to. There is sulphur pouring down the mountain into the stream and it just takes you back to when the mine workers and others came there to soak it all up. I would return weekly if I could. They are doing great things out there and everyone should go and support them and enjoy the forest.

A bit of a drive, but 100% worth it. Beautifully maintained campgrounds. Both free and pay sites. There's a store for the basics if you forgot them. They raise their own chickens for fresh eggs. Everyone we came across was friendly and willing to swap stories if you're willing to take the time to listen to their stories, they'll listen to yours, or they'll leave you alone. I was blessed with some pretty good stories while camping there. Make sure to ask about the mineral springs. It's a short, easy walk(I have stage 4 cancer and had no problems with the walk multiple times). If you're brave like me, take a little drink from the hose filling the pools. The experience we had exceded my expectations! There are plenty of trees and our camping spot was right next to the stream, we had a wooden platform like a balcony overlooking the stream which was very handy to watch the kids while they were playing in the water. The fire pit, bench, picnic table and the water spout are all very well placed. There was also a wood chopping area with an axe, a swing a little further down and a teether ball. At first I was little confused by where the bathrooms were. It's located across the stream. I thought we were supposed to use the bathroom inside the hipcamper up the creek cabin but there's a small bathroom cabin right next to it. This is a lovely place to tent camp. The staff is friendly. The bathrooms have an outhouse look, without the stench. The toilets flush and a sink to wash your hands. The stream runs along all of the campsites. There are great hikes and fun places to explore. You can't use the fire pits during fire season, but each campsite has a barbeque that you can put charcoal in for cooking. I will definitely camp here again. ⛺
