Toll Mountain Campground and Picnic Area

I would give 4 except for the cows that surround the perimeter of the campground and moo All. Night. Long. Clean out toilets. Sweet campsites. Well kept free camping. No water . There's a creek, but considering the cows are on either side of the campground we were afraid to boil the water. We had a 7 gallon jug that lasted 4 of us for 2 nights, 3 days and 15 miles of mountain biking each day. Grateful for campers next to us who were leaving and shared their extra water with us. So, be sure you have enough clean water. And enjoy the beauty and trails in the area.

Great rustic camping area. No water and only 1 pit toilet. Great place to getaway from it all. No cell service. You have to pack all your trash out.

We have camped here more than a dozen times and it continues to be a favorite. This lightly-used campground only has 7 sites but we have rarely seen it eve half full, often we are the only ones there. To the east is a rocky hillside that the kids love to climb and explore. To the west is willow-meadow with a small stream. We have seen a moose and her baby there on two occasions. Within the campground is a simple nature hike loop that is wonderful for a stroll or for the kids bikes.

Found it late at night desperately looking for an overnight camping spot on a long road trip. Late August and it was already getting pretty cold at night, and a mix of rain and snow fell as I was driving away the next morning. There's some old graffiti in places, but the campsites were well appointed and the bathroom was open. The bear box was full of trash so be prepared to clean up after others to stay safe. The area is gorgeous and wildlife was abundant. A moose cow and calf came and ate at the campsite across from me, and I saw deer on the trail on the other side of the stream. Bookmarked the location and hope to come back soon!
