Thunder Lake Lodge

First of all, the lake is beautiful. My husband and I have never been here before. We stayed in the top 4 bedroom of the reunion cabin with our daughter and son-in-law and their teenage children. The cabin was spacious and included a screened in porch with lake view. There was a patio door leading from the kitchen to the screened in porch. The outside of the patio door did not have a handle...it was broken off. The screen door for the patio door was off and couldn't be used because the rollers were missing. You have to bring your own towels. Bed linens are provided. There are 2 bathrooms. In one of the bathrooms the sink is being held up by 2 bottle-jacks. The drawers in the vanity fall out. We enjoyed a quick stay at Thunder Lake Lodge. This resort has lots of acreage so you’ll never feel crowded. The swimming beach is a hard sand bottom and the water is clear and beautiful. There are lots of gathering spots to enjoy the outdoors both by the lake and by the cabins. We had excellent walleye fishing during our stay. We stayed in a two bedroom unit in the reunion cabin and spent most of our time on the covered deck. Our bed was comfortable. I would recommend this resort and this lake to anyone looking for a Minnesota resort vacation!

I have made reservation requests on their website and left voicemails for same since they never seem to answer their phone. “WHEN SOMEONE SHOWS YOU WHO THEY ARE - BELIEVE THEM”!

This Resort/Lodge had great amenities; huge playground for the kids, beach, kayaks, paddle boat, life jackets, movies/games all free of charge. The cottages/cabins were out of date. Pictures were deceiving. Rooms were very small. We couldn't open some windows for air flow because there was no screen or they were duct taped together. Lots of spider webs all over inside the cottage. The rates on their website were wrong and they didn't honor them because they increased the prices. They will get you with the "extra person" fee. They purposely have the rate for a lower amount of people and if you go over, it was an extra $40 per night per person, yes even for kids. Owners weren't always available during their lodging hours that were posted, making inconvenient for us for some amenities at

We just completed our 15th annual family vacation over the 4th. This beautiful, family-friendly home away from home is where my kids grew up for a week each summer and a consider a staple of their childhood. Clean beaches, well-maintained grounds, clean comfortable cabins, and endless options for included recreation activities provides something for everyone from our lounging vacationers and adventurous souls alike.
