Customer Reviews
Spent a week in the campground. Had a good-sized, pull-through site. Resort is compact, which makes it easy to get around. Owner is friendly and helpful. He goes out of his way to make sure guests are happy. The pool is awesome - very clean and inviting. As a matter of fact, the while resort is well-maintained. Only negative is the one washer & dryer laundry room. Would like to see them add another machine or two.
Hi!!! I just stayed here and it was so cute :) However, I did have to remove upwards of 20 frogs from the pool skimmers! Seems like they love the pool too :P I know I didn't have to remove them, but it's hard to enjoy swimming when I can hear them struggling for help out of the skimmer. I would really recommend a frog log or maybe some sort of mending of the bottom of the fence, just to keep them out. It's a lovely area ♥
We loved this resort! The owners were very friendly and the cabins were super clean and well stocked. The pool is very nice but not good swimming in the lake. My only negative is the weedy lake. We caught fish but nothing very large. There is a canoe, kayaks, bikes and boat slip to use at no cost. Kids playground is nice and the cabins have picnic tables, grills and fire pits.
Balsam Bay Resort was sold this past year. We have been seasonal guests for many years there and loved it. Recently, the new owners gave us a month's notice to move out. When asked why, I was told via email that they were moving away from seasonal sites to transient sites. This turned out to not be true. The new owners have been showing new potential seasonal guests our seasonal sites while some of us have been scrambling to move out. In addition to not being truthful with us, they have refused to help us move our decks when we asked. It is unfortunate as the campground has gone down hill, including lawn mowing, trimming and bathrooms.
We spent three fun-filled days last weekend in the "Bigfoot Bungalow" which is in the rv park section. What a great little place and so close to the pool which was the main attraction for our grandson! :) He met some boys his age and between the pool, the game room and the bikes the resort provides for its guests, we hardly saw him! Bob and Sue are "the best"! They care about their guests, they keep on top of situations and I love Bob's dry sense of humor :) We did get our boat out on the lake and had we more time, I know we could've brought in a lot more fish! I loved the lending library at the office - I actually had some time to sit on the deck and read! Gas grill was so handy to have right on the deck. We'd definitely go back!
