The Zen House

This rental is managed by Sweet Homes. On the phone before arriving they were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, once we got there, it was challenging They are closed at 4:00 PM (with check-in at 5:00) and an emergency number available at 8:00 PM. The code they had sent us prior was incomplete; fortunately we called at 3:58 to get the full code, just before they closed!

We’ve really enjoyed this place. I would recommend it for two people only, the second bedroom is not attached and is only a bedroom above the garage. The master bedroom bath could use a door or at least a curtain but there is another bathroom with a door so it’s not a huge deal. But if you are coming for a detached weekend with easy beach access and to use the amazing tub, shower and sauna, this is great. And dog friendly!

Disappointed! This house hadn’t been fully cleaned from the previous guest. Of note, there was a massive clump of someone’s hair clinging to the shower wall when we arrived. The porous shower floor was a petrie dish of dampness tinged in green mildew. The laminate tile floor on the outside edge of the shower is suspiciously spongy. The other full bath is tucked in the corner of the mildew smelling unfinished garage / recreation room separate from the main house. One of the comforters was unwashed and soiled with mysterious dried white splotches. Though less minor than the habitability issues, this house is dated with an unconventional layout. On the plus side, the location is good, near the beach. Sweet Homes Rentals was responsive and apologetic. A refund for the full stay was issued prom
