The Rancho Vista

We spent a more than a week in this accommodation. Absolutely fabulous. Spotlessly clean and conveniently central. Check-in etc was a breeze. Could not recommend more highly.

I am giving the Vista Hotel at 537 S Santa Fe Ave in Vista CA 5 stars only because it is very clean and luckily they have 24 hour service via text or phone. My son and I were supposed to stay at this now “Air BNB” hotel for two weeks in April 2023, but our stay was cut short because the hotel is haunted. I wanted to post about my experience last year but the time has flown. My son and I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered DoorDash not realizing that our room did not have a kitchen. They mention a kitchen now in the reviews, so that must have been added somewhere on the premises or maybe in one room only. A few things to know, bring a flashlight for easier access in opening the outside door because you cannot see the keypad to enter your personal key code. And there is not an elevator.

What a unique and great experience! Old hotel completely renovated and converted to short-term rentals. Rooms are very nice and appropriately priced for the area. Less than 10 minute drive to the ocean, Legoland, and the Vista's "Hoppy Highway" (i.e. breweries!) The 10 year old review is not accurate. This place is great for an affordable vacation in North County San Diego. Highly recommend!

STAY *A*W*A*Y* This is by far the worst dump (I will refuse to call this a "hotel", because it isn't) I have ever stayed in. The owners/managers(?) were friendly, but that's also where the short list of positives ends. The negatives ... hardly know where to start. Maybe with the bars on the reception window. Makes you really feel comfortable and safe to hand your drivers license for check in through something that looks like a jail window - not! Dirty beyond belief. So smelly you can't help but wander what has been going on here. Hot, because there is no air con. TV doesn't work and remote doesn't even have batteries. Table lamp doesn't work. Bed stinks badly. Neighbor opened his doors with a screw driver (why bother using a key?). We payed $55 for one night. I wouldn't even go there if I
