The Lodge at Mammoth Cave

We had a great stay in the new family cabins. The cabin was nicely appointed. Full kitchen complete with fridge, stove, microwave, plates, bowls, cups and utensils. They also supplied dishwasher pods, dish soap, towels, paper towels and trash bags. The bathrooms were also stocked with anything needed. The layout was good with a first floor bedroom with queen bed and adjoining bathroom. The upstairs had a second “matching” bedroom to the first floor with bathroom. The loft had 4 beds and a sitting area. The family room had two leather couches and two additional seats. Plenty of seating at the kitchen table and outside on the patio. Walking into our room in the Terrace Sunset area was like walking back in time. The bathroom had two-toned tile popular in the 1950's on the walls and the tub had hot and cold handles. The room was clean and comfortable. ||The lodge was easy to find and we enjoyed the drive along tree lined roads through the park. Unfortunately the government is shut down and our experience is not what it should have been. ||I was greeted by warm and friendly staff who answered all my questions. Sadly, I learned the restaurant was no longer open and we would be required to eat outside the park. Our cave tour for the following day would be cancelled. Add rain to the mix and you get a disappointing stay. ||The only good points about our stay was that they staggered the occupied rooms so that none shared a co

The Lodge at Mammoth cave is a wonderful place to stay if you plan to do hikes around the area or explore other caves nearby. I stayed in the Historic Cabin and it was very clean. Yes there were ladybugs, but it is a wooded area. It's a great place to stay to visit the caves and hike and then sleep in a comfortable bed. I was very concerned beforehand because of all the comments I read here, but it was clean and hardly any bugs to be honest. The staff was super friendly and polite. I'll definitely be staying again.

We stayed in the Sunset room that had all the amnenities. Front and back walls have windows all across.. They also have nice blackout roller blinds. Tv with good sound, coffee maker, microwave, desk and attractive furniture. Best of all was the bedding! Comfy and nice linens, and fluffy pillows. Heat/AC in the room. |It was raining but was very quiet inside. There was a musty smell so we bought a candle in the gift shop to mask it. |Carpeting in the room may not be the best choice in a humid area though. |We were in a handicapped room. The wall mounted sink was not good to hold the essentials within easy reach. And the zero entry shower is tricky to keep the water inside- I was very careful with the curtain!|Nice tile in the bathroom though. A small stand to hold personal items would be he
