First Creek Trailhead

The only gripe I have about this trail is when I talk to the people at mammoth cave. National Park, they informed me that this trail was an easy or moderate trail. But this was definitely a expert hiking trail. There was several trees down and several areas that where 15 to 20 feet of nothing but mud.

The best part of First Creek trail is when you step away from it and head into the stream valley below. It's a shame that the park service didn't build an official trail into the scenic areas.

Started at First Creek Trailhead and hiked to Camp 1. Gave the camp a higher rating but this trail is awful. It is advertised as easy/moderate, but this is not true. The horses and storms accompanied with zero upkeep has made this a hard/expert trail. There isn't much to see from the hike, you have to get away from trail to find some scenery. It's muddy, slippery and filled with horse manure. Probably 8-10 trees down big enough to push you off trail to get around. Social paths created to get around horse mess have been taken over by horse riders as well so it's just mud and muck. Not for the weak hearted, prepare to get nasty (not just sweaty) and nothing to see worthwhile. Will not return to this trail again.
