The Island House Hotel

This hotel is now considered a vacation rental property. As such they have raised their prices and now charge you a cleaning fee of $30. Not only have they raised their prices but they removed their staff from the hotel. No one working at the front desk or anywhere in the hotel. When you arrive you need to go to another motel down the street to get your keys and parking passes for the hotel parking lot. The hotel is in a great location for downtown Port Clinton and I have stayed there multiple times in the past but now that they have increased their prices while reducing the service I will no longer be staying here. Friends of mine usually book a room here for the burning snowman festival but this year they found they could rent a 2 bedroom home for less money that was a 5 minute walk to d

The hotel has zero amenities. The rooms are tiny and you have to live out of your suitcase. Stay away. Far away. Deceiving website. They should be ashamed.

We stayed here for NYE 2026. What we liked; LOCATION! Perfect spot to watch the Walleye Drop. What could have been better; the rooms were borderline unacceptable. We kept the temperature at 67 because the unit was SOOO LOUD! Every time it started my wife and I jumped. ALL NIGHT LONG... Certainly could use some updates as well but I think my biggest complaint is the fact that you have to travel between 2 locations to retrieve and replace your room keys and ancillaries. Not sure why it has to happen in 2 locations. I'm sure they have their reason but I can't imagine the reason would satisfy me. Lastly, the front desk is gorgeous but since it's not manned, it's all for not 😔

Great historic place to stay in Port Clinton. Great location near the water. We were there in the off season. Price was great, check in/out process was clearly explained. Stayed in the port suite, full kitchen large sitting area. Close enough to walk everywhere.

Stayed a night at the hotel in April- May 2025, while waiting for our boat to arrive from FL, to our new marina at the lake. I chose a corner room with a great view toward the river in Port Clinton. The room was large and clean. The bathroom was also clean. We chose this property for its proximity and walking distance to restaurants, bars, coffee shops as we had almost a day of downtime while awaiting our boat delivery. The property, I believe, is actually one of 3 properties owned (?) managed (?) by Our Guests hotel a bit more east on the main road- that is also where you check in / receive / return your keys + parking pass.
