The Inn on Lake Superior

Positive: We had a great view of the lake and a private patio to sit on. You could also get on the lake walk from your patio and walk to a lot of restaurants. Rooftop pool was nice also. Negative: Breakfast was just so-so. Fake eggs were bad, but they had waffles, yogurt, and other choices. One day we went down towards the end of breakfast, and they were out of a lot of things including trays, cups, etc. I asked staff for help and she was rude.

This hotel is located in Canal Park, a fantastic area with a beautiful walking path along Lake Superior (Gichigami) and plenty of nearby shops. Families will appreciate the indoor pool and the evening s’mores at the outdoor gas fireplace, offered nightly at 8 PM. Breakfast is decent and includes the usual options: DIY waffles with syrup and fun toppings, bagels, muffins, toast, hard-boiled eggs, cereal, and juice. They rotate hot items daily; during our stay, they served scrambled eggs, diced sausage, and potatoes. The rooftop pool is a nice feature, but it can get crowded. If you prefer quiet, peaceful pool time, this may not be ideal. However, if you enjoy a more social atmosphere and chatting with fellow travelers, the rooftop area is great for that. I had a very comfortable stay here but was underwhelmed with the hotel itself. For the money I paid, I was expecting a little more. The lakeside room view and water/seagull sounds were certainly the best part - and Canal Park Location. The bed was very comfortable and I enjoyed the soaps and lotions provided - those felt high end and smelled amazing. It was also very quiet, I didn’t hear much noise at all from neighboring rooms. The cozy fall decor in the lobby was also great. The rooms and hotel itself were quite dated. I was a bit disappointed in breakfast too. I am gluten free and there was very little I could eat, but the waffles did smell incredible. I appreciated the egg options and the hot delicious coffee. I would stay again with expectations in check - you are paying for location

Breathtaking lake view! My kids really enjoyed the rooftop pool, which is small and heated. Fitness room was adequate. I love that breakfast starts early (6:30 a.m. and coffee even earlier!) The location is quiet and feels safe. Only downsides were musky-scented bathroom toiletries (smelled like men's cologne) and the room was kind of dark and oddly structured (king bed right next to the door, while the sleeper sofa was closest to the big window with the beautiful view). Regardless, we will be back again!

A good place to stay in Duluth. Wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. Situated in the middle of Canal Park. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We loved sitting on the deck facing the lake. We were lucky enough to watch an ore boat come under the Bridge. A couple areas that need attention is the parking lot, the handicap area is not close to where our rooms are. They need handicap parking at both ends of the facility. The outdoor patio bricks are loose and need attention as well picking up trash in the parking lot. We would stay again though.
