The Gateway Inn of Oak Lawn

This is an older place, but in a good area for me to visit with family. Definitely needs updating. The worst problem was the room was really really hot (just a rough guess but over 80 degrees). I walked to the office to say I couldn’t get the thermostat to shut off. She hemmed and hawed, said maybe she could move me but since I had a dog…she trailed off. Told me to open the window and turn on the air conditioner. I’d been on the road since early morning, just wanting to go to bed. It was too hot to sleep, I was up for hours, using wet cloths to cool off. Won’t stay there again

Older motel where attempts to update/maintain apparent. Room was okay and you can overlook rust on the metal heating vents, multicolored ceiling paint from repairs in the bathroom, missing back to remote for tv, missing fire alarm, nonsecure door, lumpy pillows and older, well washed towels, waffle iron in breakfast area that did not work and weak coffee. The good: free parking, good location, room clean, micro and fridge in room, friendly staff. Good for one night stay.

Nice and clean room. Spacious and restroom were clean too. They provide some complimentary coffee and waffles in the morning(no full breakfast option). Friendly and welcoming staff.

A decent 1-star hotel with a bit of personality. Our room was clean and cheap. No bugs to be found. It had hot water and two beds. The location is decent. Good luck turning left on 95th street, though. They have some cute paintings around the parking lot and a bear at the curb. At night they have colorful lights everywhere. The A/C was freezing cold when we came in. We had to turn it off. I think they could save a buck if they had an A/C unit that could keep temperature.
