The Empress Hotel

Please please 🙏 remodel and update your room decor! It hasn't changed since you opened over 20 years ago! So dated. Look around you things are changing. At least start with getting rid of those old mattresses and pillows.

The Empress Hotel was truly exceptional. Check in was easy. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We really felt welcomed! We were given room 334 ( ocean front) which had a great wrap around balcony with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit dated but SPOTLESS!! This hotel's location is ideal, across the street from the boardwalk, ocean, many restaurants and bars (walking distance). This hotel is highly recommended for outstanding service and a well appointed room. We will definitely be back. I really wished I remembered the woman's name that checked us in - she is a GEM!!! If we do remember I will write a note to the hotel. We loved our stay at the Empress Hotel, just what the doctor ordered after a very long challenging illness. Thank you!

This is a gay hotel & bar and Nightclub with a wonderful pool, that is straight friendly. The location is excellent and is reasonably priced for the area. As gay people we love coming here for all the events, Tea Dance, pool and nightclub events. The rooms facing the pool can be a little loud during the weekends and the breakfast is good but basic. If you don't like gay people or especially gay men, then don't come and complain. But please remember Asbury is a gay town with a large gay population.

The Empress is an amazing place! It truly has a vibe and character unlike anywhere else. The manager Max is one of the best people I have ever met!! He was extremely accommodating and exceeded ANY and ALL expectation we had for this stay. Our vacation would not have been as amazing without Max, we are so grateful to him! While Max was amazing, all the staff were phenomenal and treated us lovely. Our room was clean, the view was amazing. We woke up and watched dolphins jump out of the water while the sun was rising from our balcony. If you have the opportunity to stay at the Empress please do! AND if you have the absolute pleasure of meeting Max give him a nice smile! I would stay here EVERY time I’m in the area and we will be back !! I posted views from our balcony

Staff - everyone from front desk to maintenance to security to bartenders - were all amazingly accommodating and friendly. Location is perfect. Rooms could use a little refresh. But there is an old school Shore vibe to them. Given the clientele, maybe a bit more updated would go a long way. But otherwise I have only superlatives about the hotel, the entertainment, the club. Will be back!
