The Dalmar, Fort Lauderdale, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Honestly if you arrived at this hotel choice like I did through the Amex Hotel collection, this really isn't it. I won't get too crazy into it, because no one wants to read a rant. A late check in (despite it being pased 4 pm). A shower that makes a screaming noise when in use that can't be repaired (DO NOT BOOK ROOM 1604) that vibrates the whole room. There was still garbage in the bathroom (despite the late check in "cleaning"). The elevators are NUTS. Not uncommon to wait more than 10 minutes for one. Also, the elevator inspections expired in 2024, just a heads up, there. Oh, and the wedding they booked pretty much took over every space, making our reservations feel overshadowed and ultimately unimportant. We were here for wedding. The hotel is very nice and clean. Service was high quality and view breathtaking. Gym waa well equipped and pool was awesome for everyone. Roof top bar was definitely worth having a few drinks. There was a little confusion on when to use the resort fee credit of $18. We were told that we could carry over to use fir breakfast next day but later told we could not. Kiara, the assistant manager, was kind and allowed is to use the credit.

While our experience here was fine, this is not a 5-star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The service and staff were by far the worst part. Housekeeping is inconsistent and inattentive; they did not change the trashes. In addition, we stayed on a very high floor which was below their rooftop nightclub that blasts music till 2am which was bothersome for sleep. Lastly, no one told us you had to reserve the beach shuttles, which made it impossible to utilize. At most, this is a 3-star hotel, and doesn’t deliver what it tries to sell you on. The elevators were also a mess, it was a 5-10 minute wait every time we wished to ride the elevator. The positives were the pool and pool bar and the city view from our room. Positive: We loved the hotel?s aesthetic and appreciated being able to enjoy drinks, We loved the hotel's aesthetic and appreciated enjoying drinks, dinner, and the rooftop bar and lounge without leaving the building. Negative: After dinner, we went to Sparrow, thinking it was self-seating since the hostess station was off to the side. The older hostess commented that we were ?table squatting,? which made us uncomfortable, so we decided to end the evening and return to our room.

I recently stayed at The Dalmar to celebrate a birthday. I booked the stay through the American Express Hotel Collection and I was expecting a high quality hotel and level of service. My expectations were generally met, until my girlfriend began to dig into the chicken skewers that she ordered at The Sparrow. She cut into the all the chicken skewers and found the insides completely raw. I spoke with Gustavo, one of the members of the hotel staff, and he offered to have the skewers remade and removed from the bill. But by that time, my girlfriend’s confidence in The Dalmar and the mood for the night had already taken a toll. Not to mention that the lobster fried rice and egg rolls that I ordered were just okay.
