The Colonial Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

We hosted a marriage retreat at The Colonial Inn and it was the perfect walkable, comfortable, ambiance-filled experience we were hoping for! Kaity and the staff at the inn were so welcoming and accommodating for our group. We had wonderful spots indoors and out for discussion and reflection, coffee and water always available, and the hotel restaurant was a wonderful spot to end the day! We loved the comfortable beds and nice showers too. Set in charming Hillsborough with a rich history and elevated comfort, this was a wonderful place whether you're having a meeting or getting away with your family!

We have stayed at the Colonial Inn in Hillsborough three times this year and absolutely love it. Each room we have stayed in has been nicely appointed and very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for exploring Hillsborough's charming downtown. We didn't get to enjoy the restaurant but it smelled delicious when we were at the bar there. We found the bartender, Dyonous, delightful! We wouldn't stay anywhere else!!

I absolutely loved my stay at The Colonial Inn. My room was clean and nicely decorated, the shower was great, and the bed was so comfortable. Every staff member was so sweet and helpful if I had a question or needed anything. The hotel does not have allocated parking, but I was easily able to park on the street with no cost or time restrictions. Most places were easily walkable (shops, restaurants, parks) - it was an excellent base to explore Hillsborough. I would happily recommend this place to friends and family, and hope to stay again in the future.

We celebrated our anniversary at The Colonial Inn, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. We had the House Salad, the Colonial Ribeye, the Crusted Lamb Chops, and the Red Velvet Cake. The food and the service were both outstanding, and the Lamb Chops were some of the best we've ever had. |Thank you for a lovely dinner. We certainly hope to return soon!

Just awesome. Spencer’s Tavern is in the hotel and has great food and drinks. That is also the namesake of the original building and business there. The staff is amazing and so accommodating. We live in Garner and did a stay-cation for a night and loved it. Very historical with original floors and building remaining from the 1700’s. It’s within walking distance of everything in downtown Hillsborough and has event spaces that are definitely worth taking advantage of. Other historical sites are within a 10 min drive away. Would highly recommend staying here if planning a trip, in town, or for a stay-cation.
