Holiday Inn Express Hillsborough (Durham Area) by IHG

Broke down on 85 and limped my car to a shop down the street. Booked via Hotels.com. The room was perfect. Nice size, clean and roomy. WiFi worked well, never even needed to turn on the HVAC. Bed & pillows were amazing. Shower had nice hot water & good pressure. No noise issues. I could faintly hear the highway from my room (facing the highway). I did not try the breakfast, but the snack area was pretty lacking. Walking distance to several fast food establishments and a few gas stations. Talked with a few locals who told me "If you told me you were going to the Microtel, I would have told you not to" and "You picked the better of the 2 hotels".

Great stay and hidden gem. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made me feel welcomed from the start. My room was very clean and well maintained, and housekeeping did an excellent job throughout my stay. Overall a smooth, comfortable experience with great people and great service. Highly recommend.

Husband and I stayed here one Saturday night in March while visiting relatives. Our experience was very positive, and we’ll stay again. We told our relatives to recommend this hotel to other visitors too. The beds were so comfortable that after returning home, I called back to the helpful front desk to learn more about the mattresses. Room was clean and very quiet. We had breakfast with family and did not have the opportunity to try the hotel breakfast although that is an offering we normally seek out. If there were a way for a bathroom fan to be installed, that would make the experience even better. Also, in addition to the towel bars present under sink and on shower door, adding a multi prong hook on back of bathroom door and extra shelf/rod in bathroom would be helpful. Thank

Overall, for this class of hotel, it was a great, clean option close to downtown Hillsborough, which was exactly what I was looking for. The front desk staff and service were really friendly and very helpful. There was plenty of free parking, and I appreciated the convenience of the on-site market. I would definitely stay here again.

Beyond incompetent and rude staff - they messed up the reservation, meaning my family had to wait over 30 minutes late at night for a reservation I had made weeks before. The staff did not apologize once and were extremely curt with us about their own mistake, having the audacity to very rudely ask if we had touched anything in the wrong room they had given us before they would schedule us in a room they rush-cleaned. I have never had this terrible of an experience at an IHG before and was extremely disappointed. Will not come here again and would not recommend anyone else come here. Would give negative stars if possible.
