The Blue Boar Inn

We absolutely love the Blue Boar Inn! The location, service, rooms, food, and the adorable little pub are all wonderful. Christine and the entire staff are amazing—you know it’s a great place when so many of them have been there for years. We fell so in love with this charming town that we decided to get married here on 12/1/25, and everything was absolutely perfect. From the dinner, dessert, and décor to our room and the breakfast the next morning, every detail was flawless. Thank you for the exceptional service, as always. We can’t wait to return!

My husband surprised me with us going here for our honeymoon and it was fabulous from the room with cozy beds and movie esq views to brunch and dinner. The shrimp and grits were one of our favorite appetizers as the flavors just melt in your mouth and give you that calm sultry everything is good feel. The steak was tender and juicy just the way it should be and tasted great at dinner and at brunch. We tried just about everything on the dinner and brunch menus while there and we can say all of their chef awards were hands down deserved. Make sure you save room for their yummy deserts too! You’ll sleep so comfortably like never before in their fit for royalty feeling beds. The inn itself it nice, but it's some of the details that were lacking, especially for how much we paid. The staff was great and very accommodating, but little things were not taken care of. Yes, it was clean and comfy. Maybe I'm just being picky, but bad caulking around the tub, huge icicles above the entrance way, even the food was disappointingly bland (creme' brulee had no flavor and the flourless chocolate torte didn't have a chocolate flavor, and the caramel topping was grainy). I WILL say the hot chocolate was divine, as was their Scotch Eggs (a first time for me).

What an excellent B+B and so much more. The room was fantastic, and the amenities were also. We loved the decor and ambiance and the staff couldn't have been better. Wendy at the front desk was friendly and helpful and so kind. The game room was so cool and inviting too. We had the pleasure of breakfast in the morning and it was outstanding. Excellent selections and amazing tastes and fresh too. Abigail was our server and she was excellent. We loved the history and the tavern-bar was done so well. We also enjoyed the gift shop too. We will be back for a longer stay soon, and we highly recommend this fine establishment for a stay.

We booked Thanksgiving dinner here expecting a high-quality holiday meal worthy of a 4-star reputation. Unfortunately, the entire experience fell far below expectations. The menu was predetermined. 3 small slices of Turkey/gravy. #20 scoop of dressing and mashed potatoes. Vegetables were sauted peppers with 1 slice of zucchini served with 1 roll. Shocking for a restaurant considered 4-star. No salad or soup offered. The dessert was a 4" dried out pumpkin tart with whipped cream from a can. For premium holiday pricing, we expected warmth, and attention to detail. Instead, the meal was careless and plain. We were so underwhelmed wondering if they gave the chef the day off.
