The Antler Lodge

Slightly pricey hotel as you would expect so close to Yellowstone. We had 2 nights here. Checkin was reasonable although when asking about eating in the attached restauarant we were almost discouraged. The man on reception said it would be busy with locals as it was a Friday night and we were advised to come at a very early time we wanted a table. As we wanted a bit of relaxation time having arrived around 6pm we decided to eat elsewhere as luckily there was an excellent restaurant just over the road. The room was comfortable and clean and had all the usual amenities. I do (like many people) like the room to be cleaned if i am staying 2 nights and a note over the sink (in the bedroom) said it would be cleaned after only (I think 4 nights) UNLESS you asked before a certain time the next m

This is a somewhat larger hotel and it turns out it was an old Comfort Inn. One could see it was a bit dated, but reasonably well kept up. ||Check in was easy and I did get the room I had requested. ||the room was decent sized and appeared to be clean. ||Right away I was happy to see a ceiling fan which is ALWAYS a plus in ANY hotel. why do so few have them I wonder? It turns out the fan was a good thing because the AC sucked... barely put out any cold area or any air at all for that matter. Luckily it was cool at night since it was late september.||the room had a medium sized TV with decent channels.||There was a fridge in the room. ||The bed was clean and comfortable.||the WIFI sucked.. barely 2 bars. ||Sleep quality was OK once the room cooled down. We stayed in late September at the end of our Yellowstone trip. The hotel is very clean, beds are very comfortable, the room was spacious with plenty of lightbulbs (one of my pet peeves is dark hotel rooms). We ladies felt safe here. The front desk clerk was full of info and directions and maps. The laundry room looked clean and spacious although we didn't use it.

The lodge is located in the village of Gardiner, which is the perfect location for entering Yellowstone NP from the north-west. The welcome was friendly and polite. The lodge offers solid rooms, yet you can tell that the lodge has seen better times. There is no breakfast available. That was strange to me as just opposite the front desk there is an area which looks like a food area and it has also the classic, transparent bread & bagel boxes standing there. Strange… Housekeeping is only done after the 4th night! Otherwise you have to ask for stuff yourself. The worst part is the WiFi. It’s completely unusable!! According to front desk staff this is a general problem in Gardiner. Well, it’s kinda strange as we had better WiFi in other places in Gardiner.
