Terry Bison Ranch Resort

We didn't stay at the resort, but we did go on the train and see the animals. We were there in mid-February when the temperatures were below freezing. The train was heated and we were very comfortable in hoodies, me in leggings and the husband in shorts - it's hard to take the California out of him no matter the weather. They offered hot chocolate before boarding, we saw baby bison, peacocks, chickens, horses, emu, ostrich and lots of others. The train was cute and fun. We had a long stop to hand feed and pet the bison. They made sure we had ample time there and we heard interesting stories along the way. It was a great way to spend a day.

Wednesday, August 27, 2025, we visited the Terry Bison Ranch, 51 I-25 Service Road East, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82007. Upon arrival we purchased tickets for the 9:00 a.m. train and were instructed to be at the train boarding area no later than fifteen minutes for the train’s 9:00 a.m. departure.| |We stood at the departure area from about 8:40 a.m. until 9:10 a.m. asking two different staff members about the 9:00 a.m. schedule. One gave us a look and said something about working the barn before walking away. The other said something like “He would be with us shortly” and walked away. I walked up to the souvenir/gift/ticket shop and asked when the 9:00 a.m. train was leaving. I was told that the “engineer” was moving bison from on pasture to another and would be with us shortly.| |About 9:20 a.m

Took an high fashion, Sunday brunch adult and 3 older kids who are 12, 13, and 15. They all looked at me like I was crazy when I told them I bought the experience. All of them looked skeptical as we pulled up, half rolling their eyes with an are you serious expression. As we approached the bison I started to see some eyebrows slightly rise in interest. As soon as the pellets started to be fed all of them were out of their seats, fully engaged. We all had an absolute blast and stayed longer than I expected. Everyone had smiles and truly had a great time. 10/10 highly recommend

We had fun here, gift shop t-shirts were super over-priced but I understand why. A good selection of items to pick from. The best part of this visit here was seeing the peacock 🦚 up close. 20 bucks to ride the little train, don’t fall for purchasing the bag of food for the bison for 10 bucks, they have a couple of plastic pails filled to the rim that they do offer for you to grab to feed the bison for free. Bison were beautiful up close. Only sour deal for me was that I lost 60 in cash. Other than that this is a kool place to take your family. **We did not stay at the resort **

This review is for the tour, which we have taken twice. We have not stayed in the lodging. The tour is buckets of fun for kiddos who enjoy hand feeding these huge creatures. Keep a tight hold on your littles though! The driver was fun, friendly and informative. The train benches are hard, so bring a cushion if you want. I wouldn’t bother buying the overpriced bison “ treats.” Just enjoy the ride.
