Summer Wind Oceanfront Hotel

Stayed here in May 2018. There were no roaches thank God. The rooms did look similar to the pictures except not as polished. I didn't expect an amazing room, but I did not expect what I got. There was gap between our door and the floor. I did wonder about bugs because the gap was about 1 inch which is way too big. The mattress was all spring but not completely useless but it was so lightweight that it lifted when we sat on the bed. When I went to move it back, I found a huge hole in the wall. And to top it all off, the room smelled so bad! The smell seemed to come from some drawers in the night stand or dresser but it was awful. Do not stay here!

First review ever so I want to choose my words carefully. Dealing with this hotel was the worst experience. Roaches were in the room, dead birds were on the side of the building. The staff that I can only assume lived in the hotel were enjoying the amenities more than the guest. When thinking about the front desk lady two words describes her, blatant racist. The cleaning staff never cleaned the room the next day and was not too hasty to bring towels. No I will never stay there again and honestly feel like I'm owed a refund.

We had reservations with a great resort Thurs-Mon. We decided to surprise our 2 kids & leave out Wed after work & drive (7 hours) straight to the beach - or as far as we could make it before getting too tired to safely drive. We didn't know how far we'd make it before having to stop so we didn't make a reservation before leaving, we just decided to 'wing it' so we could give the kids (& us!!) an extra day at the beach. Right around midnight we were about 30-40 minutes away & since we just needed a place to crash long enough to rest, get a quick shower, find breakfast then go play on the beach/in the ocean until we could check into our ACTUAL reservations I went online to a hotel booking site to get a name & address of any place with a 24 hr. desk that didn't cost an arm & a leg. My husband and I just got married. Our original honeymoon weekend plans fell through due to some unforeseen circumstances, so we thought we would take a quick trip to myrtle beach since it's only an hour and a half away. Needless to say when we arrived we were less than impressed and trying to make the best of the situation thought we would try to make it work. To say the least, we turned in our keys three hours later as we felt to uncomfortable to be in the room, let alone sleep in the beds! It isn't even worth 1 star... room smelled and damage to interior furniture. Could not use key on front door, had to go into room through the balcony. Had 2 towels with no wash cloths or amenities. The TV was on when we opened the door but nothing but static. No cable or internet. After a few minutes, I went back to let the people at check-in know that the room was not satisfactory and we just wanted to get a refund. They stated it was their policy to keep the money for the 1st night if we cancelled and we weren't there 20 minutes. BEWARE, front desk clerk stated they beefed up security because they had a lot of problems especially in the past but now she doesn't have a problem with calling the police. Not a good feeling and the room was worse than that.
