Great find! Each camp site has trees between and it’s quite private. We’ve never been in such clean pit toilets either! The view of Mount Hood from the boat ramp is extraordinary.
Visited 8/16-18/2023 New campground on Timothy Lake. The hosts were fantastic! The campground was very clean. Picnic table, very clean vault toilets, fire ring, shady sites, Trails for hiking and biking through the campground. There's also an 11 mile trail that circles the lake. $26 a night and day use area included with camping fee. Campground has paddle boat launch and nice area for swimming. The only campground on the lake with full view of Mt. Hood! Dispersed camping is possible by purchasing a day use pass to park vehicle then backpacking, biking or paddling to designated dispersed sites around the lake.
Very nice campground. Lake access is very close by and beach is great. Bathrooms are very clean, drinking water spigots placed in easy to access spots. Only complaint is that sites 7 and 8 are VERY VERY dusty. Most all of the other sites are well-graveled but for some reason theses sites were not. Took away from the experience because it was just hard to deal with. Breathing the dust all the time, trying to keep things relatively tidy was impossible not to mention cleaning all our gear once we got home. Never have experienced such a dusty campsite before. Feel like PGE could easily remedy this and not sure why they haven’t already. Park hosts were very pleasant.
The sites were brand new when I visited (3 weeks) so everything was very clean. Sites are a bit small and lots of gravel for tent campers in most. Less rustic than I prefer with fresh construction damage, but that wil change with time. lThe view from the day use area is incredible. My only real complaint is that the camp hosts were leaf blowing for 3 hours in the morning on Tuesday and suggested that quiet hours (10 pm) meant the park was closed and we were not supposed to be out of our campsite looking at stars! Camp hosts are seasonal, though, so probably won't be the same routine after 2023.
Super nice views! Bathroom was clean. Great park hosts. Loop trail fun.
