Spur 406 Campground - Amistad National Recreation Area

There's a nice vault toilet and several sheltered picnic tables, but I can't say I felt safe. One of the government people that stopped said there was trouble with border crossings there. I didn't think much of it until later about a hundred yards from my site I found a small recently used trail leading to the campground and a person sized hole in the fence. Considering the border is very near I was concerned about late night visitors. The park is situated on a lake, but the water level was so low it was at least a half mile drive to get to it.

Great place, fairly clean. Has a few picnic tables, with trash cans. There are also 2 restrooms. We walked down to the end of the road to see is disappear into the water. Lots of ducks out on the lake.

Drive through on our way by. Nice secluded area.

Wide open space in the spot we stayed in. Good wifi too. Saw a few Armadillos and some deer. Nice and secluded area.

This lake isn't very safe at all. Make sure you're carrying. These are good camp grounds. Well patrolled.
