Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach

We recently stayed at Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach for two nights after our cruise and had a mixed but overall positive experience. The front desk staff were great. We weren’t happy with our initial room, and they upgraded us at no charge to a room with a better ocean view. That level of customer service really stood out and was appreciated. Some of the advertising for rooms are bit misleading as they state ocean-view but if you are on the lower levels on one side of the hotel, you really have to turn your head out the window to see the ocean. So these rooms are “partial ocean-view.” Try to stay at level 6-7 or above and you’ll be fine! I’ll rate the room excellent because of the view. My review is specifically for an employee, Shenoya Thomas, the assistant front desk manager!! What a joy! She made check in easy, greeted us by name every day and was generally a bright light for us!|At check out, I shared with her some of the issues we’d had in the room. She made notes, said she’d make sure things were handled, and then issued a credit for our inconvenience!! |Every front desk person at every hotel should aspire to be her!!

The staff were amazing. They tried their best to accommodate my concerns. However, the entire hotel has no heating unit. The power in my room went out three times a black out they charged $100 a day for parking. There is hidden fees and I think everyone that plans on attending this hotel should be aware…. The microwave doesn’t work. It doesn’t have microwaves in the rooms. The one downstairs wasn’t working.

Came here for spring break with my boyfriend, had excellent service the entire time. Very friendly staff, great views. The perfect place to relax. Ruben was awesome with the chair service at the beach across the street. He set up the perfect spot for us and was very accommodating and kind both times we went to the beach. Great experience!
