Skyhook Motel

Avoid this hotel if possible. We were in Mitchell to see the Painted Hills and decided to give it a try. Most of the negative reviews are accurate The room was relatively clean, but small, dimly lit, no AC, old furniture, creaky bed, Wi-Fi only outside, no refrigerator, no ice available, and paper thin walls. We never saw the hotel manager. We only saw a note telling us what key to take. After we left, I received an email receipt charging me $16 more than my reservation price. I emailed the hotel to ask why, but did not receive any response.

The motel rooms date back to the early 1960s. Nothing has been done since then, except for the bathroom fixtures, which must have been around the beginning of the 21st century. It turned out we'd also been upgraded; I would have liked to see the other rooms. The beds were old, though the mattresses were comfortable; they had apparently been replaced at some point in the past. The floor in our room had also sunk and sloped. We were glad to leave the next morning. Definitely not worth the money.

This is the worst motel! No AC, no fridge, no ice, a cheap fan in the corner of the room. Steep paved driveway to dirt parking space at the end of the building, you walk along the side to your teeny tiny room. Not worth the $115 price!! The office is the owners laundry room. WiFi might work if you go outside? The only good thing was the owner gave me my money back & we went to the Oregon Hotel.

For the price, I expected at least the basics. I was disappointed. The sheets and floor was clean but there was a coat of dust elsewhere. There was no fridge or ice. We were provided with one thin cake of soap, no shampoo or other conveniences. The sound from other rooms was very loud even though I don't think the other guests were very loud.

For the price of $110+tax in 2025, truly the worst motel I have ever stayed in. outdoor only WiFi a slanted floor. a single wall heater that made much more fan noise than warmth. a shower stall barely wide enough to move in, with a half width door unusable by the overweight. a toilet that emitted a bloodcurdling scream when "handled". barely adequate lighting, including a bare bulb in a too tall table lamp. a bed frame shorter than my frame. parking spaces on the edge of a cliff, waiting to catch the unwary. a proprietress uninterested in guest satisfaction, which would account for the aforementioned.
